Stagecoach have recently announced that as with a number of services around the Rugby area, they will be withdrawing service 64 completely along with the section of service 63 between Clifton and Rugby and will no longer be serving Rokeby and Hillside due to commercial viability.
County Councillor Adrian Warwick, with the support of Councillor Leigh Hunt and the parish council has been lobbying Warwickshire County Council to ensure that a regular bus service continues to be provided to Clifton upon Dunsmore and Newton.
As a result of this hard work we are pleased to announce that a new Warwickshire County Council tendered service 9, operated by A & M will now operate from Clifton to Lime Tree Village via Eastlands Road, Rugby Town Centre, Hillside, Rokeby, Woodlands and Bilton Village from 5 January 2019.
This service is funded from the County Council revenue support budget for ‘socially necessary services’ not provided by the commercial sector that meet criteria for support.
Whilst the service is not as frequent as previously, it does still offer those who have to use public transport the opportunity to do so. The bus service will now operate approximately every 90 minutes during the day.
A copy of the new timetable is attached and will also be posted in the village noticeboard and Village Store. A limited supply of paper copies will also be left in the Village Store.
