CLIFTON NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
At the time of writing there were 7 reported crimes during the last two periods: Incident 17511/07/2019 – Clifton Wharf, Clifton; A crane has been vandalised, by cutting the brake lines. Incident 226 14/07/2019 – Clifton Wharf, Clifton; Electric gates have been forced open and the hinges have been snapped off. Incident 130 10/07/2019 – The Locks, Hillmorton; A bike has been taken from a barge between 5.00pm and 6.00pm 09/07/2019. Incident 4813/08/2019 – Watling Street, Clifton; A stable yard has been entered, horse tack, a quad bike and an air rifle have been taken. Incident 73 12/08/2019 – Hillmorton Lane, Clifton; Between 1.00pm and 6.30am 12/08/19 offenders have cut open a section of Heras fencing to gain entry to a site and stole 2 jet washers. Incident 100 30/08/2019 – Main Street, Clifton; A phone that has been left outside a shop by accident and it has later been stolen by someone on a bike. Incident 171 25/08/2019 – Rugby Road, Clifton; A quad type vehicle has been stolen from a yard.
Theft of sheep has been a big problem and there have been thefts of sheep near Clifton. One person has been arrested as police raided four addresses as part of an investigation into the slaughter and illegal butchery of sheep. However, please continue to be vigilant and report anything suspicious.
Restricted visibility caused by vegetation growing on the Heras fencing in Main Street is causing a problem for motorists trying to pull out of South Road. This has been reported to the highway authority and the developer of the property has been served with a notice to remove it. However, the developer has taken no action to date.
Please remember to observe the 20 mph speed limit throughout the 20 mph zone in Clifton; this includes Lilbourne Rd, Hillmorton Ln, Newton Rd, Main St, Rugby Rd, North Rd, South Rd etc. If residents keep their speed to 20 mph or less, then through traffic should also realise they are in a 20 mph zone.
