Lesley Edwards
Councillor
Clifton-upon-Dunsmore Parish Council
I’m originally from Birmingham but have lived in Clifton for 25 years.
I retired from Birmingham City Council in 2016 having spent over 20 years successfully applying for grants to support capital and revenue projects as well as managing the Capital and Revenue Programme for the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership.
During my time in Clifton, I have actively been involved in supporting 4 village fetes, several New Year’s Eve discos and buffets, Cinema nights as well as Quiz and meal nights in the Townsend Memorial Hall. In August 2019, I worked with a wonderful group of ladies in the village to organise Afternoon Tea in the Churchyard, and raised funds for St Mary’s Bell Tower window and Guide Dogs.
Due to personal reasons, I resigned from the Parish Council in March 2020 having served as a Parish Councillor for 4 1/2 years. I created the Conservation Group in 2017 which has successfully grown through the involvement and commitment of people in the village. Councillor Pete Dignan is now the Parish Council lead on the Conservation Group and Lynn Dignan leads on behalf of the residents.
I’m looking forward to the next 4 years and continuing to support our community as well as working with a committed group of councillors.
